Capturing the Spirit of the Narrow Gauge

Dave Taylor brought his studio strobes up for the night shoot preceeding the 2007 Winter photo special.

Nine separate units were used to light the locomotives as well as a touch of ambient light.  (The headlights, roundhouse and 478's tender)

Strobe lighting gives a hugh amount of control as the power of each head is variable.  The strobe exposure is controlled by the aperture and ISO.  The flash exposure is so short the shutter speed has no effect so the shutter speed can be used to lighten or darken the areas receiving ambient light.
